SUNDANCE: Chris Cuomo Actually Illustrates Corporate Money in Politics During DNC Convention
Maybe, just maybe, political reality is starting to permeate Chris Cuomo. Or it could be that Chris Cuomo is attempting to shape-shift by dropping pretenses.
Whatever it is, this encapsulated segment by the former CNN host is a little surprising insofar as it is generally accurate. According to those who know him best, Cuomo is not a very bright fellow.
However, on the issue of money in politics as outlined in this segment, Cuomo is essentially dropping truth bombs.
A good example of Big Money shaping political outcomes was discussed yesterday in the story about RFK Jr. There’s a billionaire named Timothy Mellon who has essentially been funding RFK Jr to the tune of $25 million, while simultaneously funding the Make America Great Again SuperPAC to the tune of over $115 million.
In the second quarter, Tim Mellon gave another $50 million to the MAGA SuperPAC. It is likely Mr Mellon who is the influence agent behind RFK Jr and his ability to remain campaigning as an independent.
Having previously fronted most of the RFK Jr funding, if Tim Mellon pulled funding from Kennedy that would explain the drop-out announcement likely tomorrow. As the election cycles have passed, the spending in each presidential election has increased massively. As Cuomo noted, the projected spend in 2024 is now over $10 billion.
